Last year, Music SA held their inaugural South Australian Music Industry Survey. The non-profit organisation is vigorously dedicated to the support, development, and promotion of contemporary South Australian music, and they are delighted to announce the return of their Industry Survey this year.
The 2024 survey was a major success, receiving over 360 responses from all manner of industry professionals.
Thus it has been decided that the survey will be held every year, to allow for Music SA to “build a a comprehensive picture of the current contemporary music industry in South Australia,” and so that positions and experiences of all different types can be represented and taken into account: from artists to managers, venue operators and managers, government workers, photographers, booking agents, event production crew, gig attendees, local music enthusiasts, allied industries and beyond.

If your work intersects with this industry in any way, we want to hear from you!”
Last year, the survey respondents identified the top three things that would drive the growth of the music industry in South Australia: 1) Access to, and better support of, venues 2) More funding and investment from local government, state government and federal government. 3) Better promotion and marketing of and for the music industry.
These key takeaways allowed Music SA to formulate their own approach to industry growth.
