Since making his debut with his A Little Late EP in 2013, Carner – a musician, writer, director, producer, entrepreneur, and actor – has forged a signature sound of unflinching, diaristic lyricism with ambitious, genre-disruptive sounds.
hopefully ! signals a new era for Carner. He recently introduced the album with the surprise release of two new songs, all i need / in my mind, showcasing a new side of his artistry: one that explores fatherhood, childhood, and alternative music, with positivity and lightness entering his music.
Reviewing Carner’s sold-out show at the Enmore Theatre in 2023, The Music’s Shaun Colnan wrote: “He impressed upon his audience a love of life and a need to be thankful both for what he said and what he rapped.”
hopefully !
