John Boyega Reveals the Surprising MCU Conversation He Had With Kevin Feige

John Boyega has starred in many science fiction projects outside the Star Wars franchise lately. He recently appeared in the Netflix film They Cloned Tyrone and will appear in three more projects. But what about the MCU? Surely, after his Star Wars stint, there was some form of plan to get him into the superhero franchise. According to the actor, he was close.

During his appearance at C2E2 2025, Boyega revealed that he once talked with Marvel executive Kevin Feige about potentially entering the MCU. However, the actor says “there is no room” for him now, yet he’s keen to watch the next Avengers: Doomsday when it comes out. He also shared bits of his discussion with Feige, including how he was asked which hero he would like to play. And his response… may be the reason why he’s not in it in the first place.

“I think they’re very busy. There ain’t no room for me. I can’t wait to watch it. I think with Marvel and everything, after Endgame I was like, wow, how are they going to expand the universe after saving the universe. I have sat down with Kevin Feige, I’ve been over to those guys, but I’m just going to enjoy it for now, because there’s a lot going on. I’m looking forwarding to watching it…

…Kevin Feige asked me the same thing. I was just there like, I don’t know. Maybe I need more ambition or something.”

‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Is Missing Other Established Marvel Characters

While Boyega may not be entering this superhero franchise, Avengers: Doomsday has featured a long list of cast members, and fans have noticed that a few are missing from the roster. The film has confirmed the appearance of a few established Marvel characters, like Thor, Loki, Doctor Strange, Shang-Chi, The Thunderbolts, and The Fantastic Four; some names were not included during its cast reveal.

While it has been confirmed that Elizabeth Olsen won’t be involved in Doomsday due to other projects, it has yet to be revealed if other notable characters, like Spider-Man, Captain Marvel, The Incredible Hulk, Ms Marvel and Nick Fury will return to the big screen. Meanwhile, other Disney+ characters, like Moon Knight and She-Hulk, have to be confirmed.

But then again, Marvel Studios is known for its secrets, and perhaps new cast members will be announced at a later date, perhaps closer to the film’s release date.

Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to be released in theaters in May 2026. Follow Collider to stay up to date with the latest updates.
